The upcoming official Michael Jackson biopic was set to release this October with the late singer’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the title role.
Although filming concluded a year ago, the Lionsgate movie from Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King is set for extensive reshoots.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael needs 22 days of additional filming, a time slot in which a studio could shoot an entire movie.
This comes amid sources claiming the biopic is now being split into two movies, with the first part now set to release in 2026.
Reportedly, the upcoming June reshoots are to bulk up the first movie, which is expected to conclude with the King of Pop leaving the Jackson 5 after the release of his first solo album, 1979’s Off the Wall.
